 | duhhh. trace college? hahahaha! |
 | Pakshet. I haven't really heard much about Trace. Well, nothing reall except for their banner which I saw just yesterday along c5. Ummm. I WISH may Private U.P. with good facilities but fuck off if you're not acreditd and using our name. We are not in America wherein brand names are free to use by other factions.
~~~ Iskolars, this just goes to show how wonderous our University is-- we are used to lend credibility to everything, from news about new stars et al and now a cheap ass nameless college.
Let's have them ALL take the UPCAT :D |
 | can i copy the picture??? thanks... =)... |
 | Uh, ang alam ko sa TC, yung watersports facilities (pools) nila ang madalas na ginagamit pag may athletic meets na ginaganap sa bansa. Like nung last SEA Games.
Anyway, nakalagay naman dun sa flyer(?) sa pic above na (1)UPLB ang kanilang sister school, (2)"dubbed" [lang naman] as the Private UP, at (3)school partner/affiliate nila ang UP. Malay natin kung totoo naman pala yun. Hehe. Ang problema lang kasi, may tendency na maging misleading ang advertisement to overassuming individuals. But again, there's nothing really wrong with that. Basta may pahintulot sila na gamitin ang pangalan, logo, etc ng UP, their marketing strategy is just all right.
But then. As if many people will buy that. XP We know what's UP, and what's not. :-)
TC, TC. Take care, Trace College.LOL :)) |
 | mga desperada tlga oh! tsk. |
 | Haaay, UPCAT syndrome. Move on. Hehe, peace. :-) |
 | nakalagay po sa loob niyan na "Gusto mo ba maging ISKOlar?" hehe. Na gain daw nila yun dahil sa isang agreement with the UPLB Administration. Tsk. Binenta na pala kami, di pa kami nagmalay. |
 | kelan pa naging private ang UP? |
 | tinanong ko si ermats ko kasi nagtatrabaho siya sa UP, wala siyang narinig na nagkaroon ng sister school ang UP.
at sinabi rin niya na kung hindi man yun totoo, pwede silang kasuhan dahil may intellectual property.
kung loko lang ito, basically they're screwed.. |
 | Baka naman yung aquatic center lang ang "affiliate" ng UPLB.
Hindi yung BUONG school. |
 | mga mabababang nilalang... |
 | the nerve! grabe naman! siguro dahil hindi sila kilala kaya gumamit na sila ng ganyan kasi kung famous na sila to begin with tulad ng UP or Ateneo hindi na nila kailangan gumawa ng ganyan. besides, for sure hindi sila umubra sa UPCAT kaya rin nila nagawa yang joke na yan |
 | dapat "neighbor school"... or tinapos na nila sa affiliate.. |
 | Parang ang swanget ng konsepto ng mga salitang "Private UP" |
 | pa-link rin po or pwede po bang pa-copy
 | Update: Someone replied to my blogpost re this: http://mytintinnabulary.wordpress.com/2008/04/18/the-private-up/She said "The Memorandum of Agreement on Academic Cooperation between TRACE College and UPLB has been in place since 2006. It has been reaffirmed on February 2008. As a result, majority of academic and administrative personnel of TRACE are UP graduates." |
 | yeah, but TRACE is still NOT UP.. so they cant call themselves the Private UP |
 | I used to handle the school services of TRACE College. I am a graduate of UPLB. From a student's perspective, I understand your sentiments. While you may perceive the TRACE-UPLB Academic Cooperation as a marketing propaganda, we'd like to inform you that it is part of UP's mandate to extend assistance to other schools.
There is an existing Memorandum of Agreement on Academic Cooperation between TRACE College and UPLB. The heart of this agreement is the sharing of resources especially manpower. As such, majority of our academic and administrative officials both part-time or full-time are from UPLB.
TRACE College is not competing with UPLB in terms of academics. UPLB has been in existence for a hundred years. Since we don’t consider UPLB as a competitor, we have made it as a benchmark. This is the reason why we have asked UPLB’s support in academics.
St. Luke’s and Chinese Hospital are the base hospitals of TRACE College for its BS Nursing program. This is where our students have their practical training.
While you may perceive the affiliations of TRACE College as marketing propaganda, we wouldn’t be dragging the names of various established institutions to uplift ours. Legal aspects have to be considered for such.
But in the end, we are all entitled to our own opinion. I just hope that UP students are still able to exercise humility. TRACE College does not claim that it has the same academic standards as UPLB. If this is the case, we wouldn't be entering into an agreement and asking for UPLB's expertise.
TRACE College is just very thankful for the assistance of one of the premier institutions of the Philippines.
 | so what!? TRACE COLLEGE is a good school.. and it doesn't mean nman na kinokompitensya ng trace ang uplb.. prang nag tie up lng cla.. trace makakakuha ng benefits sa academics.. while uplb, sa facilities.. why are you making a big deal out of this? im not being sarcastic, but this is what i feel.. yan ang ayaw kuh sa mga tga-up.. mxado bilib sa sarli.. mxadu mtaas yta pride.. im not telling na lahat, kalimitan lng.. well,, yan ang tingin qoh.. |
 | ^^ ineng, hindi yan isyu ng pagiging bilib sa sarili, hindi ang kayabangan, isyu yan ng gamitan, ng kawalan ng identity ng trace at kailangan pang i-drag ang pangalan ng UPLB.... ad hominem hija....
"trace makakakuha ng benefits sa academics.. while uplb, sa facilities, why are you making a big deal out of this?"
-- well, uplb (and its constituents) has a mandate to serve the country, and with the MOA, yes trace will get benefits sa academics.... i dont care if UPLB gets almost nothing with the facilities (may nakukuha nga ba???)
and like I said, ang isyu ay gamitan, pano yan hindi magiging big deal
ang nakakainis talaga eh ang dating sa mga taga trace eh since sister school sila ng up, they get the same/exact high quality, high standards ng education.... and they're uber confident they could match up/be at par with UPLB standards sa students... (i know a few stories ng kayabangan rin ng ilang Traceans bragging about the "sister school ng UP" issue kung kaya't they'd prefer Trace) well, yes may mga nagtuturo nga sa trace na graduates/instructors ng uplb... but point to consider, kapag nagtuturo ka, your teaching style is calibrated to match your students... (i no longer need to elaborate such an argument further...... ;P... hehe) Now ang tanong, paano ba iniiscreen ang students ng Trace???
"so what!? TRACE COLLEGE is a good school.. " -- exactly how good? care to expound on this?
"and it doesn't mean nman na kinokompitensya ng trace ang uplb.. " -- kakumpitensya ng uplb ang trace? kailan pa? naging issue na pala yan? kinukumpitensya ng UPLB ang trace? sa student recruitment ba? ok lang na ang mga mabibingwit ng ganyang advertisement. ay pumasok sa trace...
"prang nag tie up lng cla.. " -- prang nag tie up??? parang?? parang??
"im not being sarcastic, but this is what i feel.. yan ang ayaw kuh sa mga tga-up.. mxado bilib sa sarli.. mxadu mtaas yta pride.. im not telling na lahat, kalimitan lng.. well,, yan ang tingin qoh.." -- naranasan mo na ba ang maging parte ng UP? i just checked out your multiply profile, di ka pa high school pala... try mo man lang mag rural (UPRHS) and experience being part of UP, event try mo na ituloy tuloy mag college sa UP and look back at these days na naging issue yang flyer na yan, surely you'll cherish your UPian roots, your UP experience, and surely dadamdamin mo ang pag pledge mo ng loyalty sa up naming mahal...and have the same feeling na dinadamdam namin sa ngayon.....if, thats a big if, you could get to that point of making that pledge.... |
 | yeah menard! hehehe...
relax lang batchmate... ang puso mo... ;)
|
 | ui! may nabasa akong reply sa yupielbi.com... galing yata kay sir duldulao ito...
"According to sources from the administration, the UPLB legal department head lawyer have had somewhat a violent reaction to the matter. It appears, marketing thing ng Trace yung ginawa nila. Alam na pala ng lawyer natin ito so I would say there would be a legal battle soon if they do not cease and desist."
|
 | kelan pa naging private ang UP?
cguradong me alam si chancy satransaction, patalsikin si chancy...
hehehe |
 | dulds wrote on May 27, edited on May 27 @knewthesigns: even if there is such an MOA on sharing of resources, I do not believe, you are allowed to use trademarked/copyrighted materials SUCH AS the UPLB logo. There is a rule/law here disallowing other entities to use the UPLB logo without consent from the administration (via the Business Affairs). Even recognized UPLB organizations are not allowed to use the logo. If there is a consent, why do administrative officers at the administration building tell me that the UPLB head lawyer apparently have issue with your actions?
Tsaka your flawed logic will become a precedent because lahat ng tinutulungan ng UPLB magclaclaim din na "sister school" din sila or "brother schools".
A good school stands on its own name.
Lastly, I would like an explanation to the term "Private UP". |
 | "There is an existing Memorandum of Agreement on Academic Cooperation between TRACE College and UPLB. The heart of this agreement is the sharing of resources especially manpower. As such, majority of our academic and administrative officials both part-time or full-time are from UPLB." ---ang ibig bang sabihin neto e the "brains" behind this marketing strategy is from UP? tsk tsk tsk
"TRACE College is just very thankful for the assistance of one of the premier institutions of the Philippines."
---- and as a token of gratitude, let`s be sisters? hehehehhe |
